Great Fun at the 2012 All-Class Reunion

The 2012 reunion was by far one of the most memorable.  We started with a well organized registration process that included our first raffle for attendees, a fantastic Friday night dinner cruise on the Mississippi River and pizza for non-cruisers.  Saturday started with a great American Legion breakfast in Aledo and then moved to Aledo's Central Park where the Mayor welcomed all the alumni and guests with the aid and assistance of Aledo Main Street.  Activities moved from the Band Shell in Central Park past the location of the RMA Memorial down to 2nd Street in front of the Armed Forces Memorial.  The VFW, City of Aledo, Fire Department and Police Department made the Cadets and guest very welcomed.  The streets of Aledo were lined with American Flags and the VFW posted colors around their parking lot.  The VFW provided a rifle squad and color guard to accent the Flag Retirement Ceremonies.  The Aledo Police Department Chaplain led us in a moment of silence while the Aledo Fire Department placed chairs on 2nd Ave for everyone to sit and the City closed the street to traffic for the ceremony.  We had several speakers, including Col. Dave Lawson the last Commandant at RMA.

The Flag Ceremony was outstanding and all the festivities were captured on video. Bag pipes were played by former RMA teacher Roger Stancliff and the ceremonies closed with the cadet Drill Competition in the VFW parking lot. Saturday night was memorable with Teddy Roosevelt "reprisor" Joe Weigand appearing in character as TR to provide added elements of humor, history and 'feel good' experience.  As usual, the dinner was first class and we all added a pound or two after this weekend.  Everything is on video and will be available for sale in the near future.  Sunday started with a five star breakfast, RMA business meeting and election on officers for 2012 - 2014.  If you missed the reunion, there will be an opportunity to experience the entire weekend on video. Thanks to all that attended.  (From a posting by Jack Gwynne in the RMA Communications Center.)
