Rough Rider Association President Resigns

On Sunday January 8, 2012 the officers of the Association received and accepted the resignation of Lloyd Young as President of the Association.

Lloyd was elected President in 2010 and has done an outstanding job as our President. The reason for Lloyd’s resignation is personal and he will be missed.

Lloyd was in the class of 1964 and was instrumental in several key accomplishments for the association. Under Lloyd’s leadership the association launched the quarterly newsletter which had grown dormant for period of time and initiated projects to enhance the association and expand the relationship with the city of Aledo. These projects included developing a funding process for regional mini reunions, creation of new RMA flags for the quartermaster, acquiring the RMA bronze plaque from outside sources, presenting the plaque to the city of Aledo and playing a key role in the joint Armed Forces Memorial with the city.

Lloyd’s passion, energy and enthusiasm for the association will be missed.

With Lloyd’s departure, Vice President Jack Gwynne will assume the role of President. As a member of the original association steering committee, his previous position as president and immediate past president, Jack is eager to follow Lloyd’s agenda for the association.
